Plant Manager (m/f/d) – Fulfilment & Distribution – Düsseldorf-Area (West)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Plant Manager (m/f/d) with a strong background in supply chain management for our client, a Fortune 500 company and industry leader in custom industrial capital goods and equipment for the process industry and plant engineering. This role, based in the Greater Düsseldorf area (West), will oversee the European Fulfillment and Distribution Center, managing a predominantly configure-to-order operation with some make-to-order projects.

Our client, a top-tier US-based corporation, is renowned for delivering high-quality, project-specific products. As the Plant Manager, you will lead the site with full P&L accountability, overseeing a team of approximately 100 employees, with a focus on fast fulfillment, accurate shipments, and continuous on-time delivery to meet the specific needs of its European customers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute site strategies that align with global division goals, with a strong focus on optimizing configure-to-order and make-to-order processes. Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the fulfillment center.
  • Full P&L Responsibility: Take complete ownership of the site’s financial performance, including cost control, budgeting, and ensuring profitability. Manage all aspects of Profit & Loss (P&L) for the fulfillment and distribution center.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage and enhance all aspects of supply chain operations, including Inventory Management, Assembly, Logistics, Packing, and Supply Chain Management, to ensure seamless and efficient processes within the configure-to-order and make-to-order environments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively within a matrix organization, coordinating with global operations leadership, country sales teams, and centralized services to optimize supply chain activities.
  • Talent Development: Lead and mentor your team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring continuous talent development with a focus on supply chain expertise.
  • Compliance: Ensure all relevant legal and trade compliance requirements are met.
  • KPI Management: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track supply chain performance, driving improvements in speed, accuracy, and service quality.
  • EHS: Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, maintaining a safe and effective working environment.

Your Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Additional certifications in Supply Chain or Logistics are a plus.
  • Experience: Proven track record in a leadership role within a supply chain, fulfillment or distribution environment, preferably in a configure-to-order and/or make-to-order operation.
  • Supply Chain Expertise: Deep understanding of supply chain management, inventory optimization, and logistics.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to inspire and lead a diverse team, fostering a high-performance culture. Capability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive operational excellence. Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to lead in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in German and English.
  • Business Acumen: Strong financial acumen with a focus on cost control and operational efficiency within the supply chain, as well as experience in ensuring the profitability of an organization.
  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage conflicting priorities within a fast-paced environment embedded in a complex matrix organization.
