Head of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (m/f/x)- Greater Rotterdam Area

We are searching for a Head of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (m/f/x) to lead the Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse, and Shipping departments at a manufacturing plant of a global innovator in process measurement technologies, located in the greater Rotterdam area, Netherlands.

Our client is a global leader in process measurement technology, offering comprehensive solutions in flow, level, temperature, pressure, and analytical measurement. Serving process industries such as chemicals, oil and gas, water and wastewater, food and beverage, as well as the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors, they provide innovative products and services to optimize industrial processes. 

In this role, you will lead all Supply Chain functions, including Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse, and Shipping, with direct responsibility for a team of approximately 60 FTEs. 

You will drive operational excellence across the site, streamline and optimize end-to-end supply chain processes, enhance cost performance and service levels, and build a strong, accountable team culture focused on continuous improvement. 

Your Responsibilities 

• Develop and execute procurement and supply chain strategies aligned with product requirements, local site needs, and a make-to-order production environment 
• Lead, coach, and develop the Purchasing, Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Shipping teams 
• Oversee supplier selection, contract negotiations, and performance management to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, and reliability 
• Build and maintain long-term partnerships with key suppliers, especially for critical components 
• Proactively manage supply risks through dual sourcing strategies, inventory planning, and structured vendor performance reviews 
• Ensure accurate forecasting, inventory control, and material planning to support on-time production in a high-mix, make-to-order setting  
• Implement and advance Lean principles and Just-in-Time concepts to optimize working capital and reduce waste 
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Sales in a matrix environment to continuously improve processes 
• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, including customs compliance and international freight coordination 
• Drive digitalization and ERP optimization initiatives to improve transparency, efficiency, service levels, and cost performance 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field 
• Experience in supply chain, procurement, and logistics within a manufacturing environment 
• Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes in an industrial setting 
• Experience in make-to-order or high-mix, low-volume manufacturing is a plus 
• Proven leadership experience, ideally within a matrix organization 
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills 
• Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive change
• Fluent in Dutch and fully proficient in business English
