For our client WuXi Biologics we are looking for a Head of Engineering (m/w/d) in Wuppertal/Germany.
The work model is hybrid, i.e. remote work is possible, however, on-site presence is necessary based on business or project requirements.

WuXi Biologics is a global Contract Research Development and Manufacturing Organization (CRDMO) that provides open-access, integrated technology platforms for biologics drug development.
WuXi Biologics‘ Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) is seeking a skilled Engineering Lead to join their passionate team. As the Engineering Lead, you will play a critical role in driving innovation, optimizing processes, and ensuring the success of biotechnology projects for WuXi Biologics‘ clients.
Your Responsibilities
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of bioprocessing techniques, including fermentation, cell culture, downstream processing, and purification
- Leadership: Lead a team of skilled employees, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment
- Project Management: Oversee the successful execution of projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality objectives are met
- Process Optimization: Continuously identify opportunities to enhance manufacturing processes, driving efficiency and productivity improvements
- Technology Advancement: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in biotechnology and engineering
- Compliance and Quality: Ensure strict adherence to regulatory standards and maintain a robust quality management system to guarantee compliance with industry regulations
- Risk Assessment: Analyze potential risks associated with manufacturing processes and develop strategies to mitigate and prevent any issues
- Client Engagement: Collaborate closely with clients to understand their specific needs, provide technical expertise, and offer solutions to meet their project requirements
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including R&D, Quality Control, and Manufacturing, to facilitate seamless project transitions and ensure successful product delivery
Your Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in biotech engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial capacity
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of bioprocessing techniques, including fermentation, cell culture, downstream processing, and purification as well as facilities and utilities
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, driving motivation, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience in successfully managing biotech projects, from concept to commercialization
- Compliance: Knowledge of cGMP and regulatory requirements for biotech manufacturing
- Analytical Thinking: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex technical challenges
- Communication: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients and cross-functional teams
